5 months of travel, 6 different countries, 38 cities and so many memories to tell.
Sometimes we still can't believe that we are really here making this dream come true, traveling through Southeast Asia with no return date. It's been an incredible trip, much better than we ever imagined. Everything has been going so well and we couldn't be happier that we decided to embark on this great adventure.
Our journey so far
We started this trip through Southeast Asia at the end of March, in Thailand, where we participated in Songkran - also known as the water festival - in which for several days we walked the streets dousing the population in authentic water battles.
The second country we visited was Laos, the city of Vang Vieng captured our heart. A must-see for all backpackers, Vang Vieng has unforgettable landscapes, authentic viewpoints and so many captivating activities to do.
We headed to Vietnam, which we explored from north to south for a month. We started in the chaotic city of Hanoi, took a cruise around Halong Bay - one of the seven natural wonders of the world - and trekked through the green mountains of Sapa. Hoi An also left us enchanted by its romantic atmosphere full of colorful lanterns.
We headed to Cambodia, where we met the most smiling people on the entire trip. Everyone was so friendly and very happy that we were visiting their country. Here we visited Angkor Wat, the largest temple in the world, and Koh Rong, an island still little known with completely paradisiacal beaches.
We returned to Thailand to explore the south and eat some more Pad Thai. We loved the beaches and especially the water temperature (sooooo warm). The Phi Phi islands left us enchanted, especially Phi Leh Lagoon, which looks like something out of a movie.
We flew to Kuala Lumpur, the most multicultural city we've ever been to, and where we had one of the most enriching experiences of the entire trip. We were invited by a Muslim couple to go to their house for lunch and we spent a great afternoon with them learning more about their customs and religion.
We entered Indonesia through Bali, a destination that we were sure we wouldn't like and we couldn't be more wrong... Without expecting it, we immediately fell in love with Bali. Here we find everything we like, nature, beaches, waterfalls, incredible landscapes, captivating culture, and especially the people, who are the most affectionate people we have ever met.
We headed to the Gili Islands, which have the bluest water we've ever seen and where we fulfilled our dream of swimming with turtles. We ended the month in Lombok where we watched the most beautiful sunset of our lives.
Where are we now?
We are in Sumatra and after a few days we can say with certainty: that Indonesia is much more than Bali. Here we had one of the best experiences of the trip, a 3-day trek through the jungle, where we saw lots of wildlife in their natural habitat.

Where are we going
Initially, our trip would last 6 months but we are enjoying being on this side of the world so much that we decided to extend the trip a little longer. We just need to decide the destination... We have several places we would like to go but we can't decide... We will continue to share everything on our Instagram page, and that's where you can see what our final decision will be.
How we stay connected to the world while traveling
While traveling outside of Europe we never use our European service to stay connected to the Internet. The prices are absurd, so there are two alternatives: Buy a SIM card from the country where you are or buy an eSIM.
We have already used both alternatives and both work well.
Regarding the eSIM, we always use the Airalo one. All you need to do is have an eSIM-compatible cell phone and purchase the card through the Airalo app. Simple and easy!
Don't forget your travel insurance!

That's where travel insurance comes in, an indispensable ally to guarantee peace of mind and safety while exploring new destinations. The insurance we use is from IATI Seguros!
